HKDSE English Language Examination Skills Workshops

According to the review report of 2017 HKDSE by HKEAA, only 52.3% of day school candidates obtained level 3 or above in the English Language subject, which was the lowest among all four core subjects, and also the lowest since 2013.

Two workshops will be held to share with prospective DSE students some examination tips in Paper 2 - Writing and Paper 4 - Speaking. Please see below for details and registration.

HKDSE English Language Examination Skills Workshop – Paper 4: Speaking

Interacting in English with strangers (other candidates) in an examination setting is undoubtedly a terrifying and challenging process. This workshop aims to help HKDSE candidates prepare adequately and intelligently for Paper 4 Speaking Examination. Miss Irene Hui will recommend a wide range of strategies to improve the candidates’ speaking proficiency. Our Year 1 student at Centennial College will share her experience of obtaining 5** in the speaking examination. Practice tasks will be conducted during the workshop.

HKDSE English Language Examination Skills Workshop – Paper 2: Writing

To master English writing skillfully is no easy task. The elements of good writing include language, sentence patterns, content, relevance, organisation and style. Miss Irene Hui will advise candidates on ways to achieve a high level of language appropriacy, fluency and accuracy in the HKDSE Paper 2 Writing Examination. Participants will also learn how to better understand task requirements of the writing examination. Writing practice tasks will be conducted during the workshop.
